California Uber driver charged with DUI after Super Bowl

According to police reports, a 46-year-old Uber driver from Simi Valley was charged with driving drunk after allegedly watching the Super Bowl in a bar. The incident reportedly occurred around 1:45 a.m. when the driver was on the clock and proceeding to pick up passengers.

Beehives stolen from almond farms in California

Bee pollination during the month of February is an important component of California's almond harvest. Due to a bee shortage in the state, many almond farmers rent beehives from beekeepers to ensure that their almond orchards get pollinated. Though beekeepers are charging higher rental fees this year, they are also losing money from theft.

Several indictments for alleged workers' comp scam

Authorities announced on Jan. 28 that several people in California were indicted for defrauding the state's workers' compensation insurance system. The 13 indictments were handed to medical providers, doctors and attorneys who had allegedly taken $500,000 in illegal kickbacks for workers' compensation claims. The alleged scam is reported to be one of the largest cases of fraud in the history of the California Department of Insurance.
