Visalia DUI Defense Lawyer

If you have been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), you could lose your driver’s license and even end up serving jail time. The good news is that you have rights, and an experienced defense lawyer can protect them and guide you through the process.

I am John Patrick Ryan, a Visalia DUI defense attorney serving clients throughout the central San Joaquin Valley. I understand how California DUI laws work and how to best defend my clients against charges ranging from simple, first-time DUI to felony DUI.

If you have been arrested for drunk driving, please do not hesitate to contact my law office because I have handled hundreds of cases just like yours. Call 559-302-9684 to schedule a free consultation.

Protecting Your License And Your Freedom

There are two parts to every DUI case in California:

  • The first is the criminal charge, which is dealt with through the court system like any other criminal charge.
  • The second is driver’s license penalties, which are imposed by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). If you have been charged with DUI in California, you need to request a hearing at the DMV within 10 days in order to avoid an automatic driver’s license suspension.

DUI Checkpoints

If you received a DUI as part of a checkpoint stop, then special defenses may apply that could benefit you greatly. If you retain me to represent you, I will request a hearing on your behalf, obtain and review the evidence that the police have against you, evaluate your case, and explain your options for preserving your driver’s license, staying out of jail and avoiding other serious DUI penalties.

Other Special DUI Circumstances

Many of my clients are commercial drivers who are seriously concerned about losing their livelihoods as a result of license revocation. Others are out-of-state drivers who do not want to have to appear in court in California. Whatever the circumstances of your case, I can help.
