Drunk driving charges filed against Fetty Wap

California residents that are fans of Fetty Wap might be interested in learning that the star was recently arrested by officers with the New York Police Department in Brooklyn. According to news sources, Fetty Wap was charged with drunk driving on Nov. 3.

Law enforcement officers report that Fetty Wap was spotted by the police driving a 2015 Mercedes Benz at speeds of 100 miles per hour in a 50-mile-per-hour zone while engaged in a drag race with another driver. Officers stopped him on the Gowanus Expressway, which is located in Brooklyn, New York.

According to officers, Fetty Wap submitted a breathalyzer sample that tested at 0.09 percent blood alcohol content. Since New York’s legal limit is 0.08 percent, he was just over the legal limit. He was taken into custody on 15 different charges, including drunk driving, following too closely, driving without a license and others. The amount his bond was set for is unclear, but sources indicate that he was to be processed and released on Nov. 3.

Drunk driving charges may carry serious consequences, leading to imprisonment, heavy fines, mandatory alcohol classes, community service and more. People who are facing allegations of drunk driving might want to talk to criminal defense attorneys that are experienced with mounting defenses before resorting to a guilty plea. The lawyers might be able to negotiate with the prosecutors in order to secure plea offers to lesser charges. They also may be able to work out pleas to alternative sentences that do not include jail time. In some cases, attorneys may be able to win a dismissal of the charges against their clients if the police officers conducted the stop and seizure in an unconstitutional manner.
