California man accused of robbing at least 7 banks

Authorities reported on Dec. 5 that a 27-year-old man suspected to be involved in seven or more bank robberies was taken into custody after allegedly fleeing from Westminster police. Reportedly, the pursuit began at approximately 3:10 p.m., when the 27-year-old man allegedly robbed a Westminster bank and attempted to flee in a taxi that he had already summoned to the bank location.

With the help of witnesses, police reportedly identified the taxi within a mile of the bank. When the law enforcement personnel attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the taxi, the 27-year-old man allegedly carjacked the vehicle.

The subsequent chase lasted for approximately one minute before the 27-year-old man become involved in an intersection collision, authorities reported. Although the 27-year-old man exited the vehicle and purportedly attempted to flee the scene, police caught and detained the man. It was not immediately certain what charges were filed against the man.

The state of California often takes an aggressive approach toward offenses like theft and robbery, with the penalties for convictions on these charges usually including a prison sentence. Accused individuals may struggle against the state's prosecution without the counsel and advocacy of a criminal defense attorney with previous experience in such serious cases. There are several defenses that an attorney may employ in contesting the charges, depending on the evidence brought against the accused individual. It is critical to remember that criminal charges do not mean criminal guilt, and all accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

In some cases, the prosecution's case against an accused individual is substantial and airtight. A plea bargain with prosecutors may be the best option for those particular accused individuals.
