Visalia man crashes into house…. again

On Behalf of | May 27, 2021 | Drunk Driving

Visalia Police responded to an accident Saturday morning involving a Dodge Ram and a residential building. The driver of the vehicle was travelling on Stover Street when he lost control of his car and crashed through a house on Cecil Avenue in Visalia. His vehicle proceeded completely through the home, through the back fence, and into the road again before colliding with a tractor-trailer carrying oranges.

Shockingly, the surreal incident has precedent

In 2019, the same driver crashed through the same house which, at the time, was occupied. Firefighters responded to the scene where they found a resident pinned under his car. The resident would suffer serious injuries, including severe burns. The driver was arrested and charged with a DUI after admitting to being on PCP at the time of the accident. He’s currently facing a maximum of five years imprisonment and is set to be sentenced this month. This time around no one was injured, and the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident occurred.

A serious charge needs a serious defense

A DUI conviction can have far reaching consequences. Your license may be suspended and your car impounded. Of course, losing the ability to drive can have secondary implications; it may be difficult to go to work and take your kids to school. If you’re a repeat offender, you may face serious fines and even prison time.

Considering what’s at stake, it’s critical to have the right DUI defense attorney in your corner. They understand the nuances of the law and know what the prosecution needs to prove their case.

But an attorney is more than just a professional in a fancy suit. They appreciate the circumstances facing their client and provide candid, honest advice from the initial arraignment through trial.
