2 men are identified as suspects in California robberies

Two men from Moreno Valley were taken into custody on Feb. 27 on suspicion of a Pomona robbery. They allegedly participated in the robbery of a business that took place on Mission Boulevard on Feb. 26, according to local police.

The pair, ages 23 and 30, are also suspected in a string of other robberies that took place during the past few months in Colton, Jurupa Valley, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Ontario, Redlands and additional locations. According to a sheriff’s sergeant, from December to late February, there were six robberies in Jurupa Valley alone. She also stated that allegedly the two men had been seeking out mobile phone stores and fast-food restaurants to rob. In each one of the robberies, the men allegedly wore bandannas over their faces and carried semi-automatic pistols.

The two suspects were identified as allegedly participating in a Menifee robbery on Feb. 2 and a Perris robbery on Jan. 23, according to investigators. They allegedly discovered two guns, bandannas, masks, papers related to the Pomona business and a sizable amount of money recently in their vehicle.

When an individual in California is charged with robbery, they have every right to defend themselves, especially since they could be facing serious penalties. A criminal defense attorney could help the suspect in several areas. First, he or she could protect the suspect’s rights by being present when police are conducting questioning. Second, an attorney could also assist the defendant by reviewing all evidence and how it was acquired to look for inconsistencies or illegalities. Finally, an attorney could then advise the defendant of how to proceed with the case, allowing the defendant the opportunity to choose going to trial or negotiating a plea bargain for a possible lesser sentence.
